I must have mess up my win2k with some unintentional
reboots from my daughter and now keeps getting this failure
message whenever I want to start a dos prompt in win2k.
And of course no dos prompt window. All other windows
applications seems to be working ok.

My guess is I have corrupted some files due to the
improper reboots but have no idea what to do.

Help !!!

Thanks in advance !

One thing to try is SFC.EXE, the "system file checker". This will scan all
operating system files and prompt you for the CD if it needs to replace any
that are missing, corrupted or the wrong version.

Since you can't get to a command prompt, type this in the Run command off
the Start Menu:

sfc.exe /scannow
