Dear Friends,
When repairing my DSL internet connection, the adminstrator used the
start/run then cmd then ping followed by numbers and waits to get a
response. What is these numbers following ping and what is the
response. Thanks in advance. Ism

The ping command allows the system to use direct addressing to contact and
verify the connection from your computer to another. The numbers the
administrator entered is a address on the network that he is sure will be up
and running at the time to verify the connectivity. The numbers that follow
are a series of times, measured in milliseconds, that it took for the
"packets" to arrive at the other computer. If there were a significant
connection issue, the ping would never arrive and time out, which would tell
the admin to check for other issues.
