hi- Im sorry that this qestion has been answered, Im sure. I just cant
remember how to do this- The icons on the right bottom screen (next to the
clock) has icons that I do not want to start or even show when I start my
pc. How can I keep these from starting up every time-
Also, how can I make some start up that are not there. thanks in advance

To hide icons in the notification area (next to the clock):
Right-click on an empty space in the taskbar and select Properties.
Down at the bottom of the Taskbar tab, check the box for "Hide inactive icons"
Click Customize..., and next to any icon you want to always hide, change the behavior to "Always
hide"

thanks william-now I remembered this procedure-However, how do I get rid of
the items listed in that same area under customize notification area in the
part that says PAST items- there are folders in there that are programs
that I dont even have anymore-plus some that I do and some that I dont want
toeven be there. any help in that area

Hi William,

Check for an option to not having the icon load in the System Tray via the
program(s) in question.

Other options for removal:

Go to Start/Run and type in: msconfig. Go to the Startup Tab and uncheck
accordingly. Then run this script to remove the disabled items from the
registry.

Clear Disabled Items from Msconfig Startup (Line 148)
