I just had a thought while formatting my replacement Maxtor drive...

When connecting a hard drive externally on a USB or FireWire connection, can
a speed increase be had by using a non-standard cluster size that more
closely matches the USB or FireWire packet size???

Doubtful there'd be any or at least that it'd be significant
since the drive has a far larger cache than the USB or
firewire chip a buffer, plus the faster cache-to-buffer
speed than buffer to host/peer buffer.
