Hi Group

I have problem with my Cluster service in windows 2000.
The hardware configuration of cluster server, as follows
Configuration:
2 x 8500 R - Servers, 4- way server
MA 6000 - SAN
OS - Windows 2000 Advanced Server
2 - Node clustering
Oracle 11i application & Database running on the OS

1. Cluster service is not working on both the servers, it
is not able to access any logical drives on shared
resources on SAN.
2. I tried to uninstall & install the cluser service &
followed the procedure given from microsoft.
3. After uninstalling the cluster service on both the
nodes i was able to access the shared drives (SAN) from
both the nodes seperately.
3. When i was trying to install the cluster service on
node 1 keeping shared storage ON. During the
installation, giving the cluster name i.e. virtual name
(can virtual name be any name here ?), it asked for
cluster user account in the domain. I gave the domain
account & when i click NEXT it gives the following error
" either password or user is incorrect or this node could
not have reliable communication with domain controller.
Check the domain controller communication".
4.To inform you, the domain account is valid, also check
both cluster server are in netowrk. Installation tried
with all the options i.e. domain admin, domain cluster
user, & local admin account.

I am really in a bind here and would appreciate any and
all help ASAP. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Yakoob,

Can you ping the domain controller by name from both nodes ?

Are you using a 'complex' password for the cluster service account ?
If you are, try changing the password to a 'simple' one and see if
that makes a difference.

I've run into this problem before and believe me it was definitely the
strong password which caused the install to fail :
