Closing programs causes computer to reboot

After installing SP4 on Win 2000, the computer suddenly
reboots after I close programs such as IE5, messenger
programs or even my quicktime plug-in in the system tray.
No issues with this before SP4, now 9 out of 10x
immediately afterwards. Any ideas? IE5 also has become
less responsive, as in it hangs or takes a long time to
load. Ran scandisk and virus check
 
my friend thanks for mentioning the virus scans you have
done...
that will save me from having to do that...
now for an answer upto this point..
YOUR SCREWED...
you are better off reinstalling the orignial with no
updates, i left a long horror story posted at this group
thing, i think now with your virus checks, and all the
things i did, it appears there is no way to repair that
problem....
