closing ms word doc asks for "connect to" I when close that window.

When I close the browser when there is a MS Word doc in
the browser, it asks me to connect to a server,
apparently wanting to attempt to connect to save it, when
I change to another web page.

What causes this and how can I stop it?

I'm having the same problem... how do I turn this off and quit asking me if I want to connect or work offline? Happens when I connect to the internet and bring up IE6. Can somebody answer this and not just give a link? I'm getting the run around with these links... links to other links... UGH! Thanks bunches.
 
I don't know what you've tried. Try this first.
Open IE6. Go to Tools/InternetOptions/Connection tab. Click on the option
Never Dial a connection. Click OK and close IE6. Now, you'll have to
manually start your internet connection before you open IE6 or Outlook if
you want to access the internet.
