I am unable to close the window with a double click on
the icon in the upper left hand corner. Would like to be
able to this. My computer at the office has xp pro too,
and it works there. Any solutions? Thanks.

If you click the icon once, what items are on the drop-down menu and which
one is in bold text?

The following items appear on the drop-down menu:
Restore, Move, Size, Minimize, Maximize, and Close.
Close is bold.

Maybe check your Double Click speed settings under Control
Panel...>Mouse...Move slider a little to the left and try again.
Since CLOSE is bold it's the default and should be automatically performed
with a Double Click unless the computer isn't recognizing the double click.

This doesn't answer your actual question, but why not a single click in the
upper right-hand corner? Unless it's something simple like the double-click
speed, this sounds like one of those problems where the fix is more pain
than the problem.
