I burn MP3s to a CD in data format with WMP9. The files
are there, computers will read, but the disc is not
closed, so my portable player won't read them. How do I
instruct WMP9 (or XP Explorer) to close a data CD?
Thanks

I read the link below and I just went through the entire
procedure with Windows Explorer (XP). Drag files to CD
icon, they show up "files waiting to be recorded" but no
matter how I initiate copy the files to CD, the "CD
Writing Wizard" comes up and I cannot find anywhere
to "finalize the CD". I only get a choice to "close the
Wizard", or at the end "Finsh" (which just closes the
Wizard). Where do I find "finalize the CD"??
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, "finalize the CD" is Nero. What portable player are you using that
doesnt play the discs. Any CD i have never burned plays just fine in my
RioVolt MP3-CD player.

The portable player is a Sony Walkman CD-R/RW MP3.
Here's the really odd thing. Last night I carefully burned
a CD full of MP3's (as a data file) from XP Explorer,
looking for the 'finalize the CD" command. It didn't show
up, and when done, for the heck of it I put it in the
portable player, and lo and behold, it DID read them.
Strange. So then this morning when I went to listen to it,
it CANNOT find files on that CD. Not, I'm not crazy. But I
sure can't figure it out.
Any help?
