close_wait

when doing a netstat on my webserver, I noticed a very
large amount of close_wait connections with our bank.
This was a problem in windows 95 and 98, but not with
windows NT. Has anybody noticed this problem since
putting windows 2000 sp4 on their machine.

What is "large amount"? More than a thousand? Unless the number is
exceeding a limit, no harm no foul. There is a registry setting for
the timeout, but too low can cause problems.
