Hi everybody,

today, I spent my time installing Windows 2000 on my desktop computer.
After configuring Windows 2000, installing my applications, designing
my desktop the way I want it to be, sorting the Start Menu, configuring
Outlook 2002 an so on, I tried to clone my Administrator account, but I
failed. What I wanted to do is:

I would like to copy my Administrator account with all it's settings,
programs and so on to a new account. Afterwards, I would like to change
the account policy from 'Administator' to 'Power User'. The new account
should be the account to use for everyday work.

Is that possible in some way? I tried to, but it didn't work out the
way I wanted it to.

Crosspost to alt.os.windows2000, microsoft.public.win2000.group_policy,
microsoft.public.win2000.new_user, follow-up to alt.os.windows2000.

TIA,

Steffen

Usually you would not want to try and clone the local admin account.

It would be easier to create another local administrator and try to clone
this user.

The information you want in their profile is locked while you are logged on
as admin.

Create another admin account and logon as this account.

Go under the administrator profile in documents and setting and copy that
profile.

If you want all users to use this profile there is an all users profile we
can use under documents and settings. This will merge into all new user's
profiles.
