Cloning one computer HD and restoring to another computer

I have a T20 Thinkpad and I want to clone the hard drive and restore it to
an A30p Thinkpad. Can this be done and the peripherals which differ be
recognized by plug and play? I am using Windows 2000. Thanks

Just make sure that the generic disk drivers are loaded and it should go
fine.
