Hello, everyone. Is there a freeware program similar to Clone CD? I
like the interface that it has because it is so straight forward in
the way it works.

RawCDCopy

I forgot to mention that you need Aspi drivers but don't know where to
get them. I am sure someone here can help, else try in
alt.comp.periphs.cdr

XDuplicator, it's a front end to erm..CDRDAO, or something, you need
both. Sorry for the ambiguity, do a search on XDuplicator and the page
will have a link to the program it's a front end to.

Doesn't quite do what CloneCD does afaik. RawCDCopy more or less does.

I followed this discussion with interest and dnloaded a copy of Raw CD Copy.

It ran and gave multiple read errors while making the image. Finally, it
burned a copy on an Imation CD and it was inaccessible afterwards - a
coaster presumably.

I repeated this with a different (Memorex) CD and the only error was a
failure to read text. It went through the imaging and the burning process
and, when I try to access this CD I get the same message as before "Please
insert a CD into drive d:"

Is this normal for this prog? I am using a Pioneer DVD A05 - DVD and CD
writer.

TIA

It may be the CD. I've had this happen and found the Memorex C.D. to be bad.
That (defective products) often occurs when buying anything in bulk from Awl-Mart.
Once I found a decent C.D., it worked OK. There may be an issue with Memorex CD's.

I had similar problems trying to 'clone' a music CD (haven't had the
opportunity/requirement to try it with a data disk yet).

I normally use Burn at Once, but it occasionally baulks at a CD.

Admittedly my hardware is getting on a bit, but I found that I couldn't
write DAO, but I could write SAO.

Not sure why that should be different for a CD-R, but there you go....
