Clock year problem

The year changes from year 2006 to year 2406. This used to happen only about
every few months. It seemed to happen about mid way through the month. I
upgraded to XP Pro in January, now since about mid March it has done it 3
times. The month, day, and time are correct, only the year changes. This is
my home PC, it's connect to an UPS so it doesn't seem to be a power glitch.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this problem.

Have you tried a new CMOS battery?

I don't know what his problem is, but it's almost impossible that a failing
battery could be the cause. A failing battery changing the year, but leaving
the month, day, and time correct is so very unlikely as to be almost
completely impossible.

Have you done a full virus scan recently? This looks to me like some
rogue program, not like hardware.

One of two things:

1. Malware/virus activity; or
2. A hack or crack that you applied to something that changes the system
date to avoid detection.

Either way, you have something nasty.
