Clock Interrupt BSOD - Vista install

Well, I'm at a loss.

I've been trying to install Vista for the last two days on a computer that
was previous running XP. Vista keeps giving me the bsod "A clock interrupt
was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval".

Now this system is not overclocked whatsoever (to my knowledge). It was
installed as is straight out of the box and has not been tweaked in any way.

Ive done a bit of research on this bsod and see that it can come from a
processor that has been overclocked. But mine isn't.........so I am very
frustrated and don't know what to do. I can't get XP to reinstall either - it
hangs. Nothing is any different in this computer than when it was running XP
just Friday. I have unplugged everything except DVD drive and one hard drive,
keyboard, mouse and vid card. Only the necessities are hooked up.

The proc is a Pentium D 3.0 on a Biostar motherboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. My forehead is bleeding from beating
it against the wall.

Hi,

You may need a BIOS update, have you checked with Biostar to see if a) this
is available and if b) this motherboard is compliant with Vista? Many are
not.
