Clips in collection folders not displayed in contents pane

I am newcomer to the world of Moviemaker. I would appreciate any
advice/direction in respect of the following query:

I imported into the MM2.1 collections pane approximately 90 movie clip
files. A separate collection folder was created for each movie clip, and a
thumbnail picture does appear in the contents pane for each movie clip. Then,
in order to organize the 90 movie clips, I created three main collections
folders and dragged each of the 90 movie clips into one of the three main
collections folders. There are now about 30 movie clips in each of these
folders. I expected that, when the main collections folders are selected,
the contents pane would display thumbnails/details each of the 30 movie
clips, but this is not the case. When the main collections folder is selected
nothing shows up in the contents pane, and only when I select the individual
movie clip within each of the main collections folders that movie clip only
will show up in the contents pane.

This does not seem right as I believe the point of having a contents pane is
to provide a summary glimpse, in one window, of the thumbnails (or details,
if that option is selected) of all the movie clips at once, within any given
selection collection folder.

Thanks PapaJohn, but I have no problem moving clips into different collection
folders. I'm not sure I was clear enough in my first letter. Let me try
again:

The problem is that the contents pane (on the right) does not display the
clips in the collection folders. For example, I have created a collection
folder called "Trip to Italy" which contains 30 movie clips. But when I
select the collection folder "Trip to Italy" I see nothing in the contents
pane. I expected to see in the contents pane thumbnails of all 30 movie clips
that are in that collection folder.

I can see where PJ was confused - now you re-explain it, I'm still not 100%
sure, but note that clips will MOVE into their folder.
The subfolder contents will not be displayed by default in the root
collections folder UNLESS you help CTRL down, and you got the + symbol,
meaning that the reference to the clip is "copied" into both the root and
subfolder collection folder. BUT what you do to one, won't happen to the
other.
Does this all make sense?!?

Jamie, PJ thank you. With both your patient help I've determined the problem
has been that instead of dragging the thumbnail from the contents pane into
the collection folder, all I was doing was dragging collection folders with
the the collections pane. As a result the movie clips were not being
displayed in the contents pane unless I has selected the root collection
folder. I should have been dragging the movie clip from the content pane.

Many thanks to you both.
