How can I STOP clipboard from appending copied material?

I don't understand what you're asking.

When you "copy" something, that something is stored on the clipboard,
that's what "copy" means. You can then "paste" it - copy it from the
clipboard - into another app.

Could you try to give us a clearer idea of what you're trying to
accomplish?

after I paste it to say "word" it dosn't clear the clipboard. Next time I
copy something it adds it to the original "copy". Therefore the subsequent
copies just keep appending to the rest. Never clears?

You are wrong Shawn, in one respect.
Windows clipboard WILL replace after each CUT.
Office stores up to 26 or 27 on the clipboard. I forget the exact number!

Why I put cut, instead of copy Shawn is an experience I had in Office 2003
years ago.
Every time I moved the mouse, it would cut and paste to the clipboard from
everything, including Picture Manager

And the problem was to do with a Multi-Media keyboard Driver, in an Acer
desktop..
Took me a week to find the solution! Uninstall it!
That is how I found out Office retains so many items on the clipboard.
Cheers!

ahha that's what I've got an ACER. I didn't try to find out how many times it
appends to the previous "copy". I got annoyed and quit. However, I've been
"cutting and pasting" for years and have never seen that before.
I quess thats what you get for buying a cheap desktop. Thanks guys I'll try
and track down the driver.

Rick, my prob might be different to yours. Every time I moved the mouse in a
doc, email, download window to save somewhere, it CUT to clipboard.
The green CUT showed up on the Desktop in letters.

It was in the T300 series from Acer.

My Recovery disks were corrupted, and Acer sent replacements which included
ALL 300s drivers, not just my model. You had to install evertything as it was
their imaging disks.
That is when it started.
When using Office, it would then tell me that the clipboard was FULL, via a
popup window, and I could delete it.
One of the weirdest things.
