1) I select text into the clipboard by highlihting and pressing ^C

2) I press any arrow key and the clipboard is lost. I verify this by
clicking Edit on the menu line and the Paste option is not enabled.

3) I can position the cursor with my mouse with no problem.

This problem occurs in Notepad and Visual Sudio.

It's driving me MAD!!!!

Check beforehand:
-- does this happen when you use the menu selections
(shown by right click) rather than the keyboard shotcuts?
-- does it occur in other apps (e.g. Photoshop or Paint,
your spreadsheet, your database)

The clipboard function is built into the Windows OS,
so if it occurs all the time the fastest cure may be
to reinstal the OS (after first verifying your antivirus
protection is intact.)

Hi Don,

The menu line copy/cut/paste functions work fine. And yes, it occurs in all
my applications.

I was really hoping that it was some XP setting that was causing this
behavior. To start over and re-install the OS is painful.

You'll then have the horrible job of finding which program on your
system has installed this “useful†hotkey function, and disabling it.

Ya. OK. Horrible. I'm there. Where do I dive in?

I'm running Vista Business/SP1.
Something is replacing my Clipboard text with screenshots when I hit the
"Arrow" keys, or the Windows key. Turning "Num-Lock off, I can use the arrows
in the numeric pad (4,8,6,2) without taking a screenshot.
