Cari Leonard

I work in a high school computer lab installing and
working with software such as Microsoft Power point. I
reformatted the computers this summer and with it I
reloaded Microsoft Office. The students have been working
with PowerPoint, and are unable to use some clip art.
Other clip art works fine, and can be inserted simply. Yet
for others, it prompts to insert the Office Media disk.
Why can we only use some clip art and not others?
Thank you.
Cari

It's probably a case of having some of the clipart pointing to its location
on the install disk. If you didn't specifically install all of the clip art
when Office was installed, then much of it is still housed on the install
disk.

Does this mean that I must uninstall Office and reinstall
it to be located on the computer?
Thanks again.
Cari

No. Just do a custom install, find the clip gallery stuff, and make sure
it's set to "run from harddrive." Otherwise it will try to install on first
use, which is what you're seeing happen now.

And remember that there is a separate installer on the media disk that
you have to run.

is it possible to get more detailed directions of how to do this? I have
office 2000 and tried an update. I chose clip art, from computer. It
looked like it was doing an install, but still no clip art. I installed
disk 2 (clip art). Still--no art.
thanks

Sorry Dee, I didn't catch which version of Office you had. Office 2000
clip art installer has it's problems. The article that Echo pointed you
to will get you up and running again!
