Clients cannot change expired password

Hi All

We are running a Win 2K Server SP3 and Win 2k Pro clients
in our domain. We have a password policy defined which
means that after 180 days the users are forced to change
their password. The problem is that when they do try to
change their password they receive an error denying them
access to complete the change..... I have checked all
through the security policies but cannot see anything from
the DC side that would cause this behaviour.... I have
also made sure that the everyone group has the "Change
Password" right.....

Does anyone have any ideas what may be causing this
issue????

We had a very similar problem. We did the following:

gave everyone the 'change password' ability
set the anonymous connection restriction back to 1 domain wide
deleted the group policy object that was enforcing this policy and created a
new one

It fixed it for us
