Client setup to exchange mailbox hangs

I am having a very frustrating problem. I have a Win 98 computer that is connected to SBS2003. Everything seems fine except that I am unable to connect to the exchange mailbox using outlook 2000. I have tried reinstalling outlook, recreating an outlook profile, etc.

I do not get any messages the computer just locks up. (If I try setting up the connection to exchange in mail and faxes it locks, if I try setting it up from outlook it locks up.) It gets as far as allowing me to name the server and the mailbox. But when I check the name it stops responding. I have deleted all of the profiles and it will let me in to outlook but if it has the exchange profile it hangs

I am at a loss to find the problem. (I need an error message - but I do not get one.) Thanks in advance for your help

Does this also happen when you try to connect to a different mailbox? Does
is happen when you try to connect with a different PC? Tried a repair on
Office already? Are you running Internet Explorer 6SP1 + latest updates?

I have done the repair, a reinstall, and an uninstall/reinstall to outloo
The mailbox works from Outlook Web Acces
I can browse to the exchange folder on the server from the client in questio
I have 25 other computers connected to the server running fine (over 7 running win98 and outlook2000
The computer has all win98 update
Internet explorer has service pack
A laptop connects fine using the network cabl

Anything else you can think of
 
I just checked to see what it would do when I click "check name" if I tried a different email box and it works perfectly. Then I tried the other emailbox and now I get an error

"The name could not be resolved. The name could not be matched to a name in the address list

This is strange since it works with the Outlook Web Access.
