Client/Server Setup

Where can I find any hints on how to set up a
client/server network rather than a peer-to-peer? I have
three new computers with Windows XP Pro installed with one
computer actuallly being my server. It was installed as a
peer-to-peer network but I thought that I might want to
try a client/server configuration.

It may be obvious but I know VERY little about
client/servers and would like to find something (not
written for an IT Professional) to assist me.

I'm sorry, but you can't set up a client/server network with Windows
XP Pro. XP Pro is a client operating system. You'd need a server
operating system, like Windows Server 2003, which is very expensive.
You can read about Windows Server 2003 here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/evaluation/overview/standard.mspx/

On a peer-to-peer network, there are no dedicated servers and no
dedicated clients. Every computer can act as a server (making its
resources available to other computers) and act as a client (accessing
resources that belong to another computer).

Steve,

Thanks. I guess I suspected that. Not a problem as I believe that I am going
to get Small Business Server 2003 when it comes out unless I get SBS 2000
with Software assurance.

Phil
