I am looking at moving our internal company web site, which was created using
FP2002, and relocating it so that it can be backed up regularly. It is
currently hosted on a client computer and I need to move it to the server.
What steps do I need to take in order to publish it to the server? Any
assistance would be appreciated.

Just make sure the server has the FP extensions, then publish via FP' http mode.

Open > Web > choose the web to open; then

File > Publish Web

Choose the http: URL location to publish to.

Read the help files on publishing a site.

By "internal company web site" do you mean an internet site (viewable on the
world wide web) or intranet site (only viewable internally to your company
LAN (local area network) or WAN (wide area network).

The site is an Intranet site on the LAN. For instance, the network domain is
company.com (for this discussion), the client computer name is database, if
you open MSIE and go to database.company.com it takes you to the default/home
page of the site. I want to be able to access it the same way if possible but
have it located on the server instead of the client.
