Client Licensing

I had an issue with licenses being taken up by systems
that are now Windows 2000 or were we replaced the hard
drive and it took up two licenses. I removed the Terminal
Server License services and re-installed it. I then re-
activated the server and installed our licenses again. I
was told that this would clean up the licenses and also
cause the clients to get new license. When I check my
Terminal Server Licensing it shows all our licenses as
being free but one of the systems that had a temporary
license still comes up as having a temporary license. Why
are the other systems not showing up and why did the
system with a temporary license not get a full license?

The old computers that had licenses won't register a new
one because they already have a valid one. Your best bet
would be to delete the MSLicensing key on those machines.
That will let them obtain a new license from the license
server.

Also, any computer that doesn't use its license for 90
days will have the license returned to the free license
pool.
