All of our users on TS this morning got the message "your
terminal services temporary client license will expire in
13 days" this morning. We have not exceeded the licenses
we purchased and all the users logging on are either XP ow
Win2000 clients. We upgraded the TS Server 2003 advanced
server several months ago but otherwise the situation has
been static for almost two years. What's going on? I
search the kb for the warning message but did not get
anything specific.

Do you have an activated terminal services license server
running on your DC? Can you verify that the license
server is issuing licenses to your clients?

I think the problem is that you are using 2003 on your
license server. The TS license service of that system
will no longer issue free licenses to Windows 2000 Pro or
XP Pro clients, so you must have TSCALs for all your
clients.

Yes, the license server is running on the TS Box, not a
DC. It appears to be issuing licenses based on dates. I
went ahead and had the license server reinstall using the
reason as upgraded server. This freed up two licenses but
i then noticed that many of the computers that it issued
licenses to no longer exist. What's the next step?

Thank you for your help!

I would go to those computers, delete the MSLicensing
registry key, and then have the connect. They should be
issued a new license.
