Client IE6 can't connect thru ICS

I'm running 2 XP Pro machines connected with LinkSys NICs. The LAN works
fine and the gateway machine sees the the Internet via cable modem. The
problem is that IE6 on the client won't connect to the Internet. BUT, both
the NIST time utility and WeatherBug work fine. I can ping www.google.com
and that works as does pinging my ISP (Comcast). I've tried about
everything I can think of but IE6 just will not connect.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Are you using any type of Proxy? What is the IP address
of the Client computer? if you ping www.google.com and
you get a rspose then the computer can see the internet,
it looks to be an IE issue, check the internet options
within the browser, and delete or modify the settings in
there.

No proxy is being used. The IP of the gateway machine is 192.168.0.1 and
the client is 192.168.0.2.
Yes, the fact that I can ping to google and other places but can't get out
using IE6 is the frustrating part of this. I've tried changing the Internet
Options--->Connection parameters using all the different combinations with
no luck.
