Client disconnected by terminal server

A client has been using terminal services for some time now. Suddenly the
client-side cannot connect to the terminal server.

It can only connect to terminal servers that are in administration mode, not
application mode.

I have not been around to know of any changes to either the client or server
(Both 2000). I was told no changes occurred.

I thought maybe some services were turned off, but cannot resolve the issue
by turning certain services on (RPC, remote routing, license logging,
kuberos, and others).

My next thought is that maybe a recent MS update has changed the way the
client/server interacts.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Can the client ping the terminal server or telnet to port
3389 on the terminal server?

-M

Network connectivity is intact (ping success); however, i cannot telnet to
port 3389

I was told no changes have been made to client nor server.

We have a hardware firewall, but i am certain it only filters external
communication (internet)

Has any recent MS-updates changed TS licensing requirements?

You don't need to buy any licenses, but you still need to activate a license
server.

Glad to hear the problem is solved.
