Clicking sound when saving to floppy 'a'

I have a Dell 4600 Dimension Desktop computer, 3 months old. I have made a short-cut under the FILE menu to 'send to floppy a'.
After I have finished working in a data file, I save the file, and then close the document. In order to back that data file up to a floppy, I then highlight the file in Windows Explorer, and click 'send to a', in the FILE menu. There is always a loud clicking sound just before the copying begins. Once the copying is underway there is no further sound. The copying is done properly. This happens consistently.Incidentally, my 'volume' for the speakers is turned all the way OFF.
Is there a problem with the 'a' drive? Is it the beginning of further trouble? Or, is this entirely normal?
I hate to have the Dell Service come to see the machine if this is a normal occurrence.
Would appreciate your advice.
Thanks

A Floppy is a driven by a mechanical devise so some noise
is expected. You mentioned that your volume is off does
the noise come through your speakers?

The noise is probably normal. The metal "shutter" on the floppy disk is
retracted when the floppy is accessed, which makes a click.
