Hi all

I have an Evesham Quest A620 Laptop (based on a clevo D900 box) with an AMD
FX-60 CPU and 2Gb RAM. Vista Ultimate installed fine and runs like a dream,
but when it tries to restart or shut down, Vista shutsdown but the PC stays
on and it can't restart. Turning it off and on again brings Vista back with
no errors but it is a bit frustrating.

Any ideas?

Thanks

James

The problem is you driver. I had the same problem with my D900. The USB
driver for the logo that comes with this system caused it not to shut down.
Just go to the Systems Devices and under USB you will see a driver i think
it is called "EZ.....", Just delete it and it should work fine.

I had the same problem on my machine, that and I couldn't get the build in
web-cam to work no matter what I tried. The 'Business" version you can
download here will shut down without messing with the USB drivers, but it
also does not have driver suppport (at least that I could find) for the web
cam

I then stupidly thought maybe if I installed XP x64 and upgraded from that
to Vista x64, that it would possibly retain the rather complex network and
drivers for the web-cam.

Only problem XP x64 IS NOT UPGRADABLE to Vista x64 while XP x86 is?!? How
does that make sense. What kind of techie is running a 32 bit OS on a 64 bit
platform waiting to upgrade to Vista who hasn't already upgraded to XP x64?

Microsoft needs to fix this pronto, or they'll loose one more customer to
Linux.
