Clearing partial history

I am an administrator, and there are certain times I am on a user's computer
and I go to a networking site, but the users should not know about this. I
tried deleting under the dropdown menu for history, but it still shows up in
the address bar if typed in. Is there a way to clear just the one item out
of history?

Hi :-)

You don't mention the version of Windows you are using, but, try the
following and see if it helps:

When you start typing in a Web form with AutoComplete enabled, you will see
a list of previous entries for the same field that begin with what you've
typed so far. You can select one to avoid retyping it. To see all stored
entries for a field, click in that field and press the Down Arrow key.

To delete an item in the AutoComplete list:

To remove an entry that is erroneous, outdated, or private, highlight it
using the Down Arrow (not the mouse) and press Shift + Delete.

or..

Delete an item in the History/Autocomplete

Close all instances of IE:

Go to Start>Run>type regedit (enter)

Navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs

Find the offending URL, select it, hit delete.

or....

To delete an item from the History in IE, click the History toolbar button
which will open the History list in the sidebar window, and you can right
click on any entry and select delete.

also..take a look here:

History Items Remain After Being Deleted from Cache

Hope this helps.
