clearing history

I am trying to clear my history on the gereral tab of
Internet options. When I clear it the autocomplete still
has a cache of webpages on the Homepage section of
Internet options. I can look at the history folder and it
is empty. Furthermore when I click on the history button
of IE6.0 and then the search button in that history frame,
the same cached webpages appear. I can't find or clear
these webpages. I am using WINNT4.0
