Please specify what you mean by 'clearing the system'. How and where you
're-load' is dependent on that.

well as u know my computer has been having errors so i thought if i delete
and reload the whole thing or maybe just wipe the harddrive????

Step 1 would be to back up all your data files (documents, downloads)
onto CD.
Step 2 depends whether you have Windows System Disks or a Recovery Drive
(this would be *Hard Drive* D: in most cases with names like Recovery).
With the CDs you just put the first one in your CD drive and restart
your computer. You will then be given two options: one will be the
destructive option which will *format *your drive and re-install your
operating system from scratch and the other will only re-install your
operating system. I would suggest to try option 2 first as this is
gentler (mostly on your nerves).
Let us know if you got the CDs or a recovery drive first!!!!

Hi Will,

After you reinstall Windows, you'll need to visit the Windows Update
site install all the latest drivers and security updates.

Here's a great beginners guide on how to reinstall Windows:

Time frame for the above... keep your afternoon open. :-)

However, you might not need to reinstall Windows.
You might just need to repair your installation:

How to repair Windows XP (takes less time than reinstalling):
Unplug from your Internet connection, and then repair Windows:
using this method: http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

Afterwards, boot up your system, turn on your XP Internet Firewall,
plug back into your Internet connection and install all Critical and
