Clear Fonts (or ClearType) a freeware application from www.whirl.org.uk
states:
<snip>With Windows XP, Clear Type delivers improved font display resolution
over traditional anti-aliasing. It improves readability on colour LCD
monitors with a digital interface, such as those in laptops and high-quality
flat desktop displays. This free program allows you to quickly enable or
disable this function.<snip>

It asks for a restart for changes to take effect but then fails to load. No
response from the developer so I am asking here... Has anybody succeeded in
getting this to work?

Jjust go here to turn Clear Type on and configure it to your tastes:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/customize/cleartype/tuner/default.asp
or here if that URL's too long:

Don't know anything about the program you speak of, but I do like ClearTweak
which appears to do the same thing.

Before someone asks, yes I know you can adjust ClearType properties from the
MS web page, I just find this program is much simpler and I can actually
sense what it is I'm changing. The choices on the MS webpage for some reason
make it difficult for me to decide which I like better. But maybe that's
just me.
