Clear Previous versions cache

Is is posiable to:

1) Clear the Previous versions cache on request

2) Change the period of retention for previos versions

I believe you can use the Disk Cleanup wizard to delete all but the most
recent restore point. This will, in essence, remove your history of previous
versions (not counting the most recent). There is no way to set the
retention period, though. The best you can do is reduce the size of the
shadow copy storage area, but this affects more than just previous
versions--this will affect restore points (used by System Restore) and
incremental backups made by Complete PC Backup. See
