Clear history causes IE6 to freeze

When I try to clear history in IE6 it freezes (not responding) how do I
fix this. I can't do a reinstall of XP because all I have is a "Rescue"
disk.

Possibly your History folder is corrupt:
[XP\2K]
Log on as Administrator and delete the desired <username> folder(s).
[example]
"C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\HISTORY"
