I've just formatted my main drive and reinstalled XP Pro. I've updated
everything. Now left behind are lots of Uninstall files. And maybe restore
points. Can I delete all of this? I'm now running defrag. It is interesting
to see the space used on the drive. A clump at the beginning, then some
further out.

Also when I boot I have to select my user name. Before I did not have to.
How do I get it to boot to myself? There will only be one user of the PC.

How does one format the hd,reinstall xp & end up with restore points, sure
you formatted & reinstalled xp.Also, were do these uninstalled files exist....

Hi Don,

Hope this info helps you. If you don't want the restore points stored on
your computer from installing new programs, you can simply turn off system
restore. These restore points should disapeer, then you can turn system
restore back on, and it will continue to create restore points. By default
system restore is set to use up to 12% of your hard drive for restore points.
You can have it set anywhere from 0 to 12%. I personally have never messed
with the uninstall files, if they are in your temp folder, sure get rid of
them. They really don't do any good just sitting there taking up space. As
far as your account showing up on the welcome screen there are a couple of
options, first is your account setup as an administrator? If not there has
to be one, and windows uses it's default admin account and that will show up
on the welcome screen with your account. If you're an admin it should take
your right to windows. If however, you want to stay a lowered privilage
account you can use tweak UI to auto log onto your account. Hope this info
helps.

Chris
