Anyone have any ideas on how it the best way to clean (in place) the
heatsink over the CPU?

How about the fan blades?

Thanks,

soft paint brush and dry compressed air

Thank you. I have a tendency to be "heavy-handed" and was concerned about
getting the fan blades off balance and also wondered if any liquid was used.

I've held my fan(s) in place and used a vacuum cleaner. (attachment

Thanks. After removing the fan (4 screws) i used a hand held vacuum and an
old soft toothbrush.

If posable unscrew fan from heat sink and clean, then that will give you
access to heat sink then use paint brush to clean heat sink and then
replace fan job done[/QUOTE]

Thanks. Things were clean-er after doing that. My concern with the brush
was pushing material down between the fins of the heatsink and as I
otherwise said, knocking the fan blades off balance.

A quarter or half inch brush with fine bristles.

Clean the fan blades with Q-Tips, dipped in water or alcohol.
Then secure the fans with tape or toothpicks so they won't spin and
take the box outside and blast it with a leaf blower.

Good idea. I'll try it. My concern was getting the blades off balance.

I considered the leaf blower, but the inside of the box in general is not
dusty enough yet. (G)
