Hi
I'm trying to do a clean install of Vista 64 Home Premium. When I boot from
the DVD, windows starts to load the set-up files. Once its done this nothing
else happens! What am I doing wrong?

You do not give the make and model of your computer or the specs (what hard
drive, SATA or IDE, how much memory, cpu, etc.). We are flying blind.

This is an OEM build. Athlon 64 X2 2.6GHz CPU, seagate 320GB SATA hard drive,
4GB of memory (2x2GB), Optiarc DVD RW, Asus M2N-E motherboard. This mb uses
the nforce series 5 chipset. What else do you need to know?

If the Optiarc drive is SATA go into the BIOS and make sure that not only is
it ahead of the hdd in the boot order but that it is also set to IDE mode.
If that does not resolve, then remove 2GB of ram and then install. You do
not say what the ram is (pc 5300, pc6400, etc). I am assuming that the SATA
hard drive controller driver is in the firmware on that mobo.
