I have a program requiring me to transfer the master status from old systen
to new xp pro drive, before it will install as the new master.

My problem is that i'm unsure how to do that.

Can i get into 98 that's in the slave drive without reinstalling it as the
master???

If all that is asked, why not transfer old drive contents to new drive
entirely.In
other words "clone the drive" then it can be master with xp on it,simply
format
the new drive with a primary partition, drive needs to be set as slave on IDE
chain,then go to run,type:XCOPY C:\*.* D:\ /c/h/e/k/r Agree to all in the
DOS
window,once its thru,shut down,power off,then set new as master,set jumper
pins,then start computer.

LOL! That would be a neat trick, and useless at best. Wishful computing if I ever saw it.
You cannot copy %windir% whilst still using Windows.

Andrew, you wrote that I can clone. Bassically, that's what the new drive
mfg. told me. Windows xp pro support said not so when i tried something
similar to that and it did't work. At any rate easy or hard, i'm intrested in
doing this if it can be done. I'm pretty sure that i can make the old drive
master again. Accomplish the needed moves inside the software and then
re-establish the new drive as master and be there.

Also i know that xp pro will copy files from the old disk, becsuse i'v
accomplished that also.

This software program, i'm pretty sure was written in a way that a novest
usually cannot get there without support. accomplishing this without their
support, in that reguard is my objective. Because if I can do it once, I can
usuallydo it again.
