It refuses to upgrade; says it is disable. I even took it off the domain
thinking maybe some security setting was keeping it from upgrading, but
still insists on a clean install.

If I do the clean install, will it delete all my documents and stuff?

Steve

Upgrades are started within XP, as in XP is running.. are you doing that?

OK, I worded that badly; I know all the settings are gone, but even the
folders and the documents within them? How about folders created by other
programs? Thanks.

OK, I installed it; went fine; having to redo everything. Big Problem is
that it didn't ask for activation code and won't activate; says there is no
DNS. Apparently, wants to be a KMS volume license server, which we don't
have, so I have to do MAK. How do I get it to allow me to enter a MAK key?

I printed out 30 pages on KMS/MAK volume activation and all one has to do is find the "Change Product Number" under the Activate Now shortcut (in My Computer), click on it, and enter the MAK activation code. So easy but not obvious. I thought the Product number would be the serial number.....
