Had to reinstall Home Premium on Dell 520 PC after power transient left
computer inoperable. Now unable to transfer files or programs from Dell
laptop 6000 because of insufficient free space on 520. C drive shows almost
completely full. How can I get back to original condition and transfer OK?
Have original Vista reinstallation disc that came with 520 and separate Vista
Home Premium installation disc purchased with computer. Thanks muchly.

How did you do the reinstallation? It sounds like you may have done it
from within Windows, and ended up with two installations.

The correct way to do a clean reinstallation is to boot from the DVD
and follow the prompts.

Sorry to be late, (out of town). I think you are right and am about to run a
Vista installation disc purchased from Dell with the computer. Incidently,
found a Microsoft note in their FAQs that instructed to go to "Advanced Boot
Options" and click Repair your Computer to get a clean C drive. Tried to do
that but had no "Repair your Computer" item in the list of options in
Advanced Boot Opions window. Tried several times, hit F8 as directed, etc.
but no luck. Thanks for your response, will try new installation.
