Clarification on OneWay Trusts?

Hello,

I haven't needed to use trusts in the past but I wanted to make sure I
understood before doing anything.

I'd like for the clients who are on the active directory for our file server
and exchange server to access a server that will be an FTP server for
outside clients. They want to be able to just map a drive to it and not
have to use FTP to put files there.

If I set up a one way trust, will they be able to map a drive to that server
without having to have a seperate account on the other domain?

Thanks

Hi there,

If you setup a trust such that your domain trusts their domain (their domain
goes in the trusted domains box on your side, and your domain goes in the
trusting domains box on their side), and you give a group freom their domain
rights to the folders, then yes, this will work.

There is a caveat - you need to have DNS setup such that both domaisn can
lookup each other's DNS. This would invole either using forwarders or
secondary zones on the respective sides.

Thank you - any risks you see there?
