I have heard a rumour that the Microsoft-Claria deal is
dead. Would someone from Microsoft like to confirm and
explain the reasons? I am sure the community would LOVE
to hear the answer.

No report on this issue ever named a source--all the reports were "unnamed"
or anonymous sources.

Perhaps you could write to the reporters in question and ask them to get new
statements from these same sources, but I think that's all that might be
forthcoming.

Bill Sanderson formulated the question :

Well, maybe MS leaked this on purpose ! To check reactions ?

http://www.benedelman.org/ I trust him !

And this was sanctioned from top level, Ballmer, so who can
put his/her name on it ????

Nevertheless MS did it and also comment this Claria downgrade so
this will for ever follow MSAS records.

Maybe its also time for ver 615 ? ;)

The Claria downgrade seems to be a technical issue which was explained.
I'd rather see beta2, myself, but I think it is a little early.

It is not about trusting Ben Edelman, it's about trusting the source of
reporters "STEVE LOHR AND GARY RIVLIN"
of the NYT. I haven't see any MS source.
As I see it: all the hipe comes from one (1) unproven article based on a
(one) unnamed source.

Well, who puts his/her name on this ? Suicide ?

This is for sure true and we will never know
exactly what happend inside MS, they will never
comment this sad history.

But MS leaks a lot so this is for sure true in basic facts.
And journalist never tells any sources, it´s a basic principle
in a journalists life. Some newspages with high standards
never publish material if they are unsure.

Ha Ha!

Apparently, you are not very familiar with US press - most of the
information put out is shaky at best and the NYTimes, please.

This is heresay probably given over healthy doses of alcohol.

Haha ? I would say buuuuuh........!

And Ben Edelmans comments are also trustworthy.
Or ? From someone going in Harvards law school ?
Is he drunk, a fantasy ?

No this is a stinking history that will follow MSAS
and MS for a long time.

JohnF. was thinking very hard :

They sure have you fooled.

Just because you have a degree does not remove the fact that you are a
flawed, subjective, opinionated human with an agenda that is more important
than "the truth". ESPECIALLY lawyers.

We have no idea what technology Claria has that would be exactly what MS
would like to employ in a good fashion instead of how it is used now. Don't
you remember the guy who posted here about 2 months ago saying he was one of
the original inventers of the technology now used in spyware and that it was
originally intended for useful, hlepful programs?

I don't care who you are, without proof, facts, and 1st hand evidence, all
this noise is just paranoid lunacy.

Sometimes I wonder if this is a newsgroup or a crop circles forum.

Get your tinfoil hat on dude.

Well, I don´t believe that and this is my opinion.

You can have yours !
