Also consider installing "SpywareBlaster" on your system
as its free and this will enter Claria & Gain Publishing
into the restricted zone so you will not have problems
with them again Its great for blocking thousands of
sites like this and malicious Active X components
SpywareBlaster is compatible with AOL's browser; it also works with current
versions of the Netscape, Firefox, and Mozilla browsers. Its most recent
iteration is SpywareBlaster 3.5.1
I hope this post is helpful.
Let us know how it works ºut.

I also keep getting a report of this spyware and get a Failed msg when
WinDefender tries to delete it. I tried Spybot and it didn't detect it. I
called MS and they recommended going to pandasoftware.com and using their
detect and remove webpage. It's a long scan, which is running now. Will
report later if it works.
A question, however. Does anyone know what this "potential threat" actually
DOES on one's computer? If anything? ;-)
The Claria.GAIN.Trickler is located in the Volume Table Information and has
been found by The Windows Active Scan (from internet) :
c:\system volume information\_restore
{80e0a850-d12e-4605-8897-49ff033a270}\rp90\a0063435.exe
comment: unable to clean.
I don't know what it means but it must be of some importance, otherwise it
should be able to be removed.
I just have run the Panda Active Scan but it dit not find the Claria threat.
I think most scanners do not check the VTI.
