hello to all. I was normally surfing the net when my
antispyware program detected an adware called
Claria.GAIN.Tricker. So far my system seems to be working
fine, however, the scan says the adware is linked to some
registry files: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\... and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\..., 16 in total. Is it safe to remove
them without needing to reinstall my system?

thanks

Hi Phil

I just answered this in the "Networking" group It should
give you all the answers for this,

Also consider installing "SpywareBlaster" on your system
as its free and this will enter Claria & Gain Publishing
into the restricted zone so you will not have problems
with them again :) Its great for blocking thousands of
sites like this and malicious Active X components

If memory serves MSAS scans and finds Claria.Gain, etc and wants to
quarantine them, it *is* safe to *remove* the threat or threats.

Hope this helps.
