The MS driver doesnt drive my printer. only garbage comes
out. have it in lpt1. any suggestions?

Yep - buy a new printer. That unit's so old Citizen doesn't even list it on
their website anymore. I found one site with drivers - for 3.1, 95 and
NT3.5! Never mind flogging a dead horse - this horse has been dead so long
the maggots have taken up residence and practically stripped the carcass!
 
As usual you proved that you know nothing about printers and even less about
anything else. The GSX-140 is so ancient that it's supported by XP Pro, as
is the GSX-140+. Not to mention that you can buy ribbons for it at hundreds
of places on the web. His printer problems have nothing to do with the age
of the printer. Dot matrix printers are the longest-lasting pieces of
computer equipment you'll ever see.
