In windows Task Manager I have a file called CISVC.exe
which uses 45 - 50% of my processer power.

When I end this process my CPU usage drops t0 0 - 2%

Can any tell me what this file does and how to prevent it
starting every time on boot up.

Many thanks

Brian

First end the task by going to task manager highlighting the program
cisvc.exe and click end process. You cpu usage should go way down to
say 10% approxamately. Also you will want to clean out the prefetch
folder in c:\windows\prefetch, cisvc.exe stores its info here. You can
empty it but that only works for awhile. This is an index service file
activated by cidaemon. Neither of this can be deleted- its part of
windows but it can be shut off.

Next go to your control panel and start "Add or Remove Programs" .
After its up go to "Add/Remove Windows components" this will start up
the windows components wizard. Uncheck the indexing service box, click
on "next", it will remove this component, then restart your computer
and it will not load up cisvc.exe so cpu usage should be normal....
