I purchased the Cineplayer DVD Decoder Pack 2.3.1 - ESD online a week ago. As
of yet, I have received no backup CD as promised, and my computer doesn't
even recognize that I have it installed after downloading. It's not in my
"All Programs" list, and I get absolutely no support at all from their
website. I was told that I could watch DVD's, but I can do nothing in my
Windows Media Player. I even downloaded "Direct X", but still nothing.
Someone, please help me because I'm starting to feel like I have been ripped
off. When I called, they said it costs $35.00 for technical support, and I
hung up. I have the receipt (printout), but nothning else.

Your wording can be interpreted as meaning that you expect things to
work just by doing a DOWNLOAD. You've downloaded, but you don't say
anything about having done the INSTALL...

Ok. I'm a newbie, so be kind. I went to the Roxio site because I wanted to
know what entailed watching DVD movies on my pc, knowing that I wouldn't be
able to do it just by downloading. Anyway, I was told that I needed a
decoder. It said I could purchase the Cineplayer online with my credit card.
I did just that, but now I'm at a loss as to what to do next. I'm sure it
involves a bit more, but I have no idea what. I also paid for a backup CD,
but, as of yet, I have nothing. Than you for any advice.

Once you've purchased it, look for an email in your inbox with the link to
download the software... and then install it. The email should contain the
product key for you to be able to activate it.

There was an e-mail from CinePlayer, but the only thing it said was "Thank
you for purchasing..." etc. I registered the product, and did everything I
thought I was supposed to do (which wasn't much. I downloaded everything, but
still nothing. It keeps "saying" that there is no disc in drive D.

Do you have a DVD in the optical drive?

I hate to sound dumb, but what do you mean by "optical drive"? Do you mean in
the CD/DVD drive? If so, then "yes", I do.

Yes, optical drive = DVD or CD drive.

You say you downloaded the software, but did you actually install it? Does
it show up in Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and in Start,
Programs.

When you put a DVD in the drive and close it, what exactly happens?

I assumed it was installed because I saw all of the "installing..."
dialogue, but it sure doesn't appear to be. It does show up in my Add/Remove
programs, and it's also in the control panel. In my "start" menu, it's in the
"startup" programs--which I don't understand. I'm totally baffled. Is there
something else I'm supposed to have that I don't?

Oh, I forgot; When I put a DVD in, nothing at all happens. I hear a few
"click...click...clicks", but nothing else.

Well, it seems to work for everything except my DVD movies. I'd still like to
know if I'm missing something that I should have installed besides, or along
with the decoder. I'm really at my wits end.
