Chronic SMTP Problem

Suddenly I have been having a very frustrating time sending mail via SMTP in Outlook 2003. Basically, I can only send mail for a few minutes...then all of a sudden I can no longer send mail. I get error 0x80042109 Could not connect to SMTP server. I also can no longer telnet to the server...so it appears that it doesn't even exist. All of my other internet services function perfectly.

The only way I can send more mail is to REBOOT my computer. I cannot just exit Outlook. I have gone as far as to uninstall ZoneAlarm and Norton Antivirus as I thought they may have blocked outgoing traffic...but I still have this bizarre problem.

I hope somebody can help me.

Thanks,
Ryan

I have the same problem. After about a year with perfect service, I started having problems sending through a pop 3 account. Then, it stopped sending entirely. I have gone so far as to remove office from my computer and re-install it. But to no avail. I've followed all of the suggested fixes but this particular account will no longer send....but will still receive on my Outlook 2002.
