Chris I followed your instructions. I am unable to run a
audio capture program.. I am using Nero (Nero wave
editor) I may have a problem as you spoke of 1/8 m/m to
1/8 m/m jacks.. I used the Cable that came with the deck.
My tape deck does not have these jacks 1/8 m/m altho the
computer does. I connected to the line out jack in back
of my Scott Stereo dual Cassette deck and got nothing.. I
have a Phones jack 1/4 on the front. I will check to see
if they make a 1/4 phone jack to 1/8 Cable..
Question?? How do you capture the audio capture program.
Sorry to be a pest but I'm a novice and may be over my
head.. If so tell me.
Thanks for your time.. Gene

Hi, Gene:

You connect RCA cables to the left and right output of your cassette deck.
To connect the RCA cables to the computer, you'll need to buy a "Y" jack,
which combines the two RCA cables into one, and an RCA-to-1/8" adapter. You
plug the 1/8" end of that adapter into the line-in of your computer's sound
card. Your sound card settings will have a line-in option and I assume Nero
will also have a setting to record from the line-in. (I have only used
MusicMatch for recording from tape, myself.)

More info on recording wav/mp3 files from vinyl and tape can be found here:
http://www.shareup.com/dadioh/ along with software suggestions. You're not
over your head- it sounds like you're real close to getting it right.

Regards,
Ian.

Boy for what ever reason I still am not able to get this
down..
I have connected the jacks as you stated. I purchased
MusicMatch followed their instructions. I do not have any
sound. My inline Vol. is on. It shows that it recorded
the Tape but when I try to play it I get nothing..
I set "Record" to "record linein", unchecked Mute while
recording so I could hear the recording.. I checked to
see if I was getting anything from the Tape deck via
Headphones and I can hear the music so it is getting to
the computer. The files that did copy to the computer had
an extention of dd.f (I think that's Right)
I am beginning to think I am pretty dumb..
Gene

Well, now I'm starting to feel a bit dumb myself because I can't think of
why that didn't work. I wish that the computer I've used to record from
tape with MusicMatch wasn't temporarily out of service so that I could look
at exactly what you're doing right now, but it really sounds to me like
you've got things set up about right. Have you set MusicMatch to record the
signal as a wav file? I can't remember- is there a record volume level
setting within MusicMatch? My output files have always ended up with a .wav
extension.

The computer I have used to record from vinyl has been out of commission for
a few weeks now or I could be of more immediate help. And by the way,
congratulations on your fine purchase- MusicMatch Jukebox is an outstanding
utility, although it was in fact the free version that I was recommending in
my earlier post.

I don't know- I think we need input from Chris, of whom you initially asked
your question.

Regards,
Ian.
